IUFRO2017, Freiburg: Getting published in the changing science landscape
Side event in the IUFRO 125th Anniversary Congress, Freiburg, Germany
Date and time: Monday 18 September 2017, 9:00 – 13:00
The side event is jointly organised by the IUFRO Working Party 9.01.06 “Forest Science Publishing” and IFSA/IUFRO Joint Task Force “Forestry Education”. The event is especially intented for graduate students (and post-doctoral scientists?) at the beginning of their publishing career. Young scientists with 1 – 5 publications or preparing the very first publication will benefit most of this event. In this side event, editors of leading forest science journals will instruct the young scientists on the scientific publishing process and good writing practices. We will also have a look on current trends of scientific publishing like open access and open data. The side event will be composed of three topical lectures given by editors or publishers of important forest science journals, and workshops that study some timely topics. Each workshop will be moderated by one or more editors.
